University College

The University of Toledo's University College is home to more than 1,700 undergraduate students. Whether you are in high school looking to take college-level courses, working toward your degree, or just interested in taking a few courses, University College has a full set of services ready to meet your needs.

Not sure which degree program is right for you? It's OK to be undecided. Choosing a major takes time and University College advisors have the guidance and tools to help undecided students, just like you, in exploring degree options to help you determine the perfect fit!

Returning to college after time away? Adult learners can choose from an array of flexible online programs and degree completion options for customized plans of study that fit busy lives.

Through our specialized services and programs we also assist military veterans enrolling at the University, help prepare students for military service through the Army ROTC Rocket Battalion, administer UToledo testing services, connect off-campus workforce locations with on-campus education, and much more!

Undecided? That’s Okay.

We have the Department of Exploratory Studies

Undecided is the second-most popular major in the United States Direct-from-high-school students who don't know what they want to major in can make the Department of Exploratory Studies their temporary home for up to three semesters. In the Undecided Program, you'll receive personal attention from academic advisors who will help you identify options, select classes and choose a major. Additionally, all students who enroll in the Undecided Program take a specially designed course to help you identify your strengths and interests and match those to a degree program. When you are ready, your academic advisor will refer you to the appropriate academic college to declare your major and continue on to earn your degree.

Academic advisors in University College are able to assist students who are enrolled or interested in the Pre-Major, Exploratory Studies, University Studies, Liberal Studies, or Undecided programs.

We offer 20 minute call-in advising appointments every Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00 -4:00 p.m. during spring and fall semesters. University College Student Services is located in Rocket Hall, Suite 1300.

Academic Services

Our advisors assist current and prospective students regarding educational options, course selection, transitioning to academic majors, and program requirements.

Military Service Center

The Military Service Center offers customized support, services, and assistance to veterans, active duty military members, dependents, and spouses.


The Rocket Battalion partners with the University to recruit, educate, develop, and inspire ROTC cadets to become future second lieutenants who meet the needs of the U.S. Army.

UToledo Testing Services

Offers administration of placement testing, credit by exam, distance learning exams from other universities, and professional certification and licensing examinations.

High School Outreach Initiatives

Provides the opportunity for high school students to pursue higher education by taking courses and receiving college credit at a reduced cost.

Office of Workforce Development

Workforce Development collaborates with business and industry leaders in the community to build development initiatives.

Online Degree Programs

UToledo offers a variety of online degree programs for the busy and working adult looking for flexibility and convenience.

Provides support to faculty and students in the design, development, delivery, and administration of online, blended, and technology-enabled courses and programs.
